Dr. Ayesha Ali specializes in internal medicine. She works mainly with the geriatric population and performs a wide range of joint injections. Dr. Rosemarie Goris-Hernandez believes in the team concept of patient care. "I want my patients to know that I'm on their side," she says. "Together, we will work for optimal results to help improve their quality of life. As a family physician, I feel like I become part of my patients' family and treat them as though they were part of mine. Family members are supposed to take care of each other, especially in times of great need. Thinking about my patients in this way makes me more empathetic to their issues and drives me to give them the best I have to offer."

Jose Cofino is a family nurse practitioner and a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Havana in Cuba and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Florida Atlantic University. He earned his master’s degree in nursing from Barry University in Miami. Prior to joining Chen, Jose was a nurse supervisor at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care where he identified physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs for terminally ill patients and their families. Jose is fluent in English and Spanish.

Since Dr. Jennifer Castilloux was young, she’s always been interested in science. “All the complexities of the human body and pathology piqued my interest,” Dr. Castilloux says. Specializing in internal medicine, Dr. Castilloux rounds in skilled nursing facilities in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. “I chose to work with seniors because I believe they deserve a physician that will advocate for their needs, especially if they are unable to do so for themselves. I take time to make sure my patients really understand what’s going on with them and teach them about prevention so they can regain control of their health and take better care of themselves,” Dr. Castilloux adds.

Dr. Alexander Garcia received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology before discovering a passion for medicine while working on volunteer mission trips with his now wife. He enrolled at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he earned his master’s degree and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Miami Hospital. Dr. Garcia believes that the doctor-patient relationship should be built on trust, respect, and reliability and he works tirelessly toward that goal. When asked what his favorite part of his profession is, he responded, “Sometimes it is the patient themselves, other times it is a family member or friend, but there is always an opportunity to make a positive impact daily.”

Dr. Steven Cimerberg wanted to be a doctor since the age of 10 and is happy that he passed up a career in music to do it. As a board-certified Fellow in family medicine, Dr. Cimerberg has cared for patients and led others as a medical director, professor, speaker, and president of professional organizations. “When I started out, my training revolved around seniors and the underserved in Ft. Lauderdale,” Dr. Cimerberg says, “so it’s natural that I returned to those roots. My favorite part is bonding with my patients and colleagues.” In his time off, Dr. Cimerberg likes to cycle outside, go to the gym, keep up with his adult children, and socialize with others. He also loves to visit Las Vegas and hopes to see Italy one day.

Dr. Avianne Hospedales enjoys seeing her patients do well. Working specifically with seniors allows her to use her strengths to help patients age with dignity and enjoy the highest quality of life possible. “Prevention is incredibly powerful,” Dr. Hospedales says. “I like to teach my patients about ways to prevent illness and how to keep their conditions from worsening. Many seniors have multiple, chronic conditions, and it is rewarding to help them improve their quality of life".

Whether caring for his grandmother or volunteering at a primary care clinic, Dr. Fritz Gaetan Heyliger has always loved helping people smile. “We were able to make a real change for the better in a person’s life,” he says. Dr. Heyliger says his favorite part of his profession is “the opportunity to educate my patients and to empower them.” He emphasizes the importance of preventative care and views himself as a part of a team with his patients. “I’m here to serve and not give orders,” he explains. Dr. Heyliger feels honored to have his patients’ trust. In his free time, Dr. Heyliger loves spending time with family. He also loves swimming in open water, participating in CrossFit, and reading motivational books.

Dr. Arathy Chandran has been interested in healthcare for as long as she can remember. “Working on behalf of my patients is the greatest joy of being a physician,” she says. She strives to educate and empower patients. “I hope to give all my patients the tools, knowledge, and support to better manage their health together,” she says. She adds, “A patient places a tremendous amount of trust in a doctor, and so it is vital to earn that trust.” She appreciates the opportunity to “connect with and learn from such a diverse group of people.” I n her free time, Dr. Chandran enjoys spending time with family and friends and studying Kathak, an Indian classical dance. She also likes watching science fiction and fantasy movies.

Betsabe Santana is passionate about caring for others. “This profession is about love and caring for another person’s well-being,” she says. She finds it important to be accessible. “We celebrate every good result. I call patients for their labs once I received them, or as a follow-up when they are not doing so well,” she explains. She strives to explain everything clearly. “It is very important to me that patients feel comfortable bringing their problems to me,” she says. She enjoys loves for her senior patients and feels a special connection with each of them. When not with patients, Betsabe Santana can be found enjoying time with her husband and two sons. “They are my core support,” she says. She also likes Sudokus and dominos.

Dr. Maria Victoria Sanchez Di Sclafani knew at a young age that she wanted to be a doctor. She believes that making a positive difference in a patient’s life is the greatest part of her profession. “I deliver the best service I can provide on each patient encounter since I think the doctor-patient relationship can be very meaningful and can have a high impact,” she explains. She wants her patients to know “that they are not alone.” She adds, “I am on their team and want to provide them with my knowledge, expertise, and everything I can to improve their health.” In her down time, Dr. Sanchez Di Sclafani loves exercising and spending time with family. She also enjoys traveling and trying food from around the world.
